The Southern Kings recorded a clean bill of health after their opening round match against the Cell C Sharks a fortnight ago at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
Unfortunately some first choice players had to watch the first game from the stand, as they either joined the squad recovering from injury or picked up an injury during the pre-season.
Southern Kings Head Coach, Deon Davids said today that all the players who have been out with injury over the past few weeks have been declared fit to play ahead of the match against the Gallagher Chiefs on Saturday.
Fullback Jaco van Tonder who joined the squad while still recovering from an ACL injury he sustained last year, along with flyhalf Louis Fouche and eighthman Aidon Davis, both of whom were recovering from knee operations, have started training with the squad today.
Prop Jacobie Adriaanse, who sustained a concussion in the Southern Kings’ first warm-up match against the SWD Eagles, along with Kevin Luiters, who battled with a tight calf, are also ready to go as they will most definitely add value to the overall squad.
The Southern Kings team to face the Gallagher Chiefs at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday will be announced tomorrow.
