Rhino appointed as official supplier to Golden Lions Rugby Union South Africa
Rhino Rugby South Africa (Pty) Ltd is proud to announce a new Official Supplier Agreement with the Golden Lions Rugby Union which will see Rhino supplying the world’s best Scrumming Equipment and Rugby Technical Training Equipment to the Lions Super Rugby Team and the Golden Lions Currie Cup Teams.
The deal was signed with the greater objective of exposing schools and clubs in the Golden Lions Rugby Unions region to a higher technical, skills and conditioning level of training techniques and equipment, so as to bring the larger player pool in this region in line with these developments Internationally. The Northern Hemisphere has been exposed to this equipment and training techniques for almost 8 years now, so our schools and clubs have to catch-up as this ultimately affects our franchises and National Teams. The objective is to close the gap from skills and technical perspective with the rest of the rugby world.
Albert Pestana, Rhino Rugby South Africa, comments: “Rhino has been working to get our equipment into the Lions for some time now, and we are happy that the coach and the senior management have recognised the importance of having the best equipment available to train their players and teams. We look forward to working with them during the forthcoming Super Rugby Season as well as the Currie Cup Rugby Tournament.” Reg Clark, Rhino Group CEO, comments: “I would like to congratulate Rhino Rugby South Africa on this breakthrough deal with the Lions. Rhino is committed to maintaining its position as the world number one supplier of technical training equipment for rugby, and partnerships such are an important part of that process”.
Rudolf Straeuli, CEO of the Golden Lions Rugby Union, comments: “We are privileged to have Rhino on board as the Official Supplier of contact and training equipment to the Emirates Lions. By using such revolutionised training equipment we are able to be more technically correct in our coaching. Rhino’s equipment brings attention to detail in high-performance training and will take the Emirates Lions to the next level.”
Johan Ackermann, Head Coach of Emirates Lions, comments: “Equipment is essential in rugby to develop our players and improve their skills. We are very honoured that Rhino is partnering with us, as their equipment has been developed with the specific aim of improving our players.”
