Richard Papo the new Marketing Manager of the Vodacom Blue Bulls
Following two Rugby World Cup victories and a uniting of a Rainbow Nation, rugby is now a universal sport, appealing to the masses, supported by millions and played by all walks of life.
As a move towards becoming one of the most effectively run rugby unions in the Southern Hemisphere, The Blue Bulls Company recently employed the experienced Richard Papo as Marketing Manager.
Papo is a driven man who is focused on the objective at hand: to transform the Blue Bulls into a brand that is as formidable and professional as Manchester United.
“I have been involved in the marketing industry (classical FMCG marketing) for the past 16 years, specialising in strategic marketing. During this period I have worked for both local and multi-national Blue Chip companies, managing some of the most well-known brands in South Africa. My goal is to make the Blue Bulls union the most loved and dynamic rugby brand in the Southern Hemisphere” commented a determined Papo.
In order to steer the Blue Bulls in this direction, Richard will be focusing on rejuvenating the brand’s image using relevant communication and introducing aggressive, single minded and focused communication that ensures the union speaks as one voice. He also aims on growing the union by increasing the overall supporter base.
Undaunted by this challenging task, Papo shares his thoughts on the road ahead;
“Working on a leading rugby brand in South Africa is both humbling and exciting. Although I am a self-motivated individual who is driven to succeed, this company brings to light the true essence of a team player, and it is this conditioning that will drive our team to victory.”
The Blue Bulls Company CEO Barend Van Graan comments;
“The Blue Bulls Company are always looking for ways to diversify and grow the brand. We have done ourselves proud in becoming one of the most well run rugby unions within South Africa, but this does not mean we are satisfied with where we are in terms brand loyalty and growth. With this in mind, we welcome Richard on board. We look forward to a new chapter filled with creative excellence and exciting change and know he is the right man for the job. Welcome aboard Richard.”
