Rugby focus moves to Youth Weeks
The SA Rugby Youth Weeks will take centre stage in the next three weeks as the best schools players in the country look to make their presence felt, with the action starting on Monday at the National Girls U16 and U18 Weeks, and the Learners with Special Education Needs (LSEN) Week.
The National Girls Weeks will be hosted at Jeppe High School in Johannesburg, while the LSEN Week will take place at the Isak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark.
This will be followed by the U13 Coca-Cola Craven Week and U16 Coca-Cola Grant Khomo Week, which will run concurrently at Hoërskool Diamantveld in Kimberley from Monday, 2 July to Friday, 6 July, and finally the U18 Coca-Cola Craven Week and Coca-Cola Academy Week at Paarl Boys High, from Monday, 9 July to Saturday, 14 July.
In the National Girls U16 Week, Boland will battle it out with Free State, and Western Province B takes on Limpopo in the first matches, while Border, who took top honours in the last U16 National Girls Week hosted two years ago, will meet SWD in the final match of the day. Hosts, the Golden Lions, meanwhile will go up against Eastern Province.
In the U18 tournament, which begins on Tuesday, Western Province, who were the top team last season, will meet SWD, and the Leopards will take on Border CD in the opening matches of the tournament. Border, meanwhile, who met the Cape side in the final match last year, will take on Limpopo, in another big match.
The U16 teams will play on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while the U18 teams will do battle on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
In Vanderbijlpark, meanwhile, the Blue Bulls and Pumas, and the Sharks and Valke XV, will kick off the LSEN Week, with other clashes seeing the Valke, who took top honours last year, meeting the Leopards, DHL Western Province taking on Eastern Province, the Golden Lions going up against Free State and the Blue Bulls lining up against the Pumas.
