Sharks blow WP away
The Sharks are the new ABSA Currie Cup Champions after they convincingly beat the Western Province 30-10 in Durban on Saturday.
The Sharks were simply too strong for the WP and dominated each and every collision on the field. Impeccable handling from the Sharks meant they could build phase after phase and with rock solid defense the WP never looked like troubling the new champions.
In the first half the Sharks scored two early tries through Charl McLeod and Patrick Lambie while Lambie added the extra points through conversions. The WP added a penalty and a conversion by Willem de Waal after a Schalk Burger try. The Sharks led 23-10 at halftime.
The only points of the second half came just before the final hooter when Patrick Lambie powered over for his second try and also converting it, taking his point tally to 25 for the final.
It is difficult to single out players but Patrick Lambie, Willem Alberts, Andries Strauss and Bismarck du Plessis excelled for the Sharks while the WP was never given any chance.
