Shujaa Beat France To Finish Third In Pool B; Face Japan In HK7s Challenge Trophy Quarters

Shujaa ended their Pool B fixtures at the Hong Kong Sevens on a high, posting a 29-12 win over France at the Hong Kong Stadium on Saturday evening. Innocent Simiyu’s charges landed five tries and two conversions to beat the French to third spot in the group.
Frank Wanyama’s converted try after a patient build up put the Kenyans 7-0 up before Dennis Ombachi landed his third try of the weekend to see Shujaa go 12-0 up.
France soon responded with an unconverted effort that brought the scores to 12-5.Wanyama’s burst of speed down the right left his French opposition for dead, his momentum taking him over the line for his double as Shujaa led 17-5 at the interval.
It was soon Eden Agero’s turn to join in the try scoring fest, scoring and converting for a 24-5 lead. The French would seek to cut the deficit, Laguel ‘s unconverted effort bring the score to 24-12 before Billy Odhiambo got on the mark right at the death to confirm the result for Shujaa.

Shujaa will play Japan in the quarter-finals of the Challenge Trophy at Hong Kong Sevens at 5.36am on Sunday 9 April 2017.
