The Kenya Rugby Union today unveiled the management teams for its men’s and women’s sevens squads.

Innocent Simiyu, a former Kenya Sevens and Fifteens captain, takes over the mantle of the men’s team with Erick Ogweno coming in as the team manager.

The 33 year old Simiyu,widely refered to by his nickname “Namcos”, returned to competitive rugby with his club side Impala Saracens after a career threatening injury and went on to feature in three of the Kenya Simbas test matches in 2016.  played 121 matches on the sevens world series, scoring 58 tries and 15 conversions during a Kenya Sevens playing career from 2002 to 2010.

The World Rugby Level 2 accredited coach replaces  Benjamin Ayimba while Ogweno takes over the docket previously held by Newton Ong’alo.

Ian Gibbons will be the new Strength and Conditioning Coach while Lameck Bogonko retains his slot as Team Physio.

Wambua Confirmed As Lionesses Head Coach

Kevin Wambua (above), who has been acting in an interim capacity, was confirmed as the women’s Head Coach with former player Camilyn Oyuayo taking over the team manager’s docket.

Samuel Njogu is the new Strength and Conditioning Coach while Ben Mahinda stays on as Team Physio.

Other national squads appointments saw Jimmy Mnene take up the U19s Team Manager docket with Stella Mwende staying on as Team Physio. They will link up with the already existing team of Head Coach Paul Odera, Assistant Coach Michael Aung and S & C Masti Mike Owino..
