The 2017 edition of the South African Rugby Annual, widely considered to be one of the best rugby publications in the world, has gone on sale nationwide.

At over 700 pages, this 46th edition of the Annual is crammed with more records, amazing facts, milestones and memorable moments than ever before. It also breaks new ground by including over 30 pages of previously unpublished pages of world records for Tier 1 countries.

“In our digital, ‘paperless’ age, when so much information is only accessible online, it’s more vital than ever to ensure we keep producing a physical document of record for future generations,” said SA Rugby CEO, Jurie Roux.

“The Annual is dedicated to serving the South African rugby community. On the one hand it’s a commercial publication available worldwide through bookstores and online retailers, and on the other hand, it’s an indispensable and trusted reference tool for a wide variety of stakeholders in the rugby industry, from administrators, coaches and agents, to journalists, editors and broadcasters.

“Its reputation as one of the leading publications of its kind in the world has been forged over 46 editions, during which time it has become the trusted “go-to” resource for historical and statistical rugby data, including individual, team and season records for all South African teams and players. Most importantly, it is also the official document of record for all Springbok records over the past 125 years,” Roux added.

In keeping with a long-standing tradition, the latest edition once again features South Africa’s player of the year on the cover, Springbok and DHL Stormers lock Pieter-Steph du Toit, following in the footsteps of Lood de Jager, Duane Vermeulen, Jean de Villiers, Bryan Habana and Schalk Burger who have graced the cover in recent years.

“With its unrivalled mix of trivia, cutting-edge research and the most amazing records imaginable, rugby fans can breathe easy knowing that the South
African Rugby Annual 2017 will continue to settle any braai-side rugby argument,” said Roux.
