Southern Kings Squad announcement for Lions friendly delayed due to injuries
The Southern Kings squad will only be announced later in the week, due to a number of players who have sustained minor bumps and bruises that need to be evaluated and attended to first.
Director of Rugby, Alan Solomons, said the Southern Kings squad would only be announced later in the week.
“A number of our players across the wider squad have bumps and bruises following our matches against both SWD Franchise XV team in George as well as the match against Despatch in Port Elizabeth over the weekend,” he said.
Solomons said as a result they would only be able to release the team against the Lions towards the end of the week.
“The two friendlies we have against the Lions on Saturday and Griquas next week Wednesday are the final preparations for our debut super rugby game against the Western Force,” he said.
Solomons said the squad would be making the best advantage of the friendlies ahead of their super rugby debut.
“To this end we will be selecting our players in the best interest of our preparations ,so as to best facilitate our journey to Super Rugby,” he said.
Solomons said the squad was looking forward to the game against the Lions, as well as next week’s game against Griquas.
“We realise that this is our final dress rehearsal and we need to make use of every opportunity to ensure that we are ready for our debut match against the Western Force,” he said.
