Springbok team to face Wallabies named on Thursday
The Springbok team for this weekend’s Castle Tri-Nations Test against Australia in Durban will now be named on Thursday. The scheduled naming was postponed on Tuesday due to a number of injury and illness concerns among the loose forwards.
Pierre Spies (groin) and Danie Rossouw (gastro) were unable to train on Monday, prompting the call up Ashley Johnson and Ryan Kankowski as cover.
Spies and Rossouw were both able to train on Tuesday but Springbok management wanted to assess any after effects before confirming the starting XV.
“We need a little time to confirm one or two positions and assess a couple of the players,” said Peter de Villiers, Springbok coach. “Both Pierre and Danie ran today but we’ll wait and see if there was any reaction.”
