•         Durbanville & Rustenburg to host semi-finals on Saturday, 6 April

•         SuperSport to televise Final on Sunday, 14 April

The semi-finals of the SSG Gold Cup, presented by Blu Approved & M4Jam, have been confirmed for Durbanville and Rustenburg following a nail-biting quarter-final weekend in which the results of two matches were in the balance until the final seconds.

Both matches in SA Rugby’s flagship national championship for non-university clubs, championed by 2007 Rugby World Cup-winning Springbok captain John Smit, will take place on Saturday 6 April at 16h00, with the televised Cup final taking place next weekend.

Two-time champions Newrak Impala will host arch-rivals and neighbours Northam Platinum Rhinos at the Rustenburg Impala Rugby Club in a heavyweight clash between the mining-club giants.

Durbanville-Bellville, champions in 2015, will host the second semi-final, against Border champions Hollywoodbets Swallows, at Durbell Rugby Club in Cape Town. The match will be livestreamed on the SSG Gold Cup Facebook page as well as SA Rugby’s new digital platform, www.springboks.rugby.

Durbell and Impala earned the right to host the semi-finals based on log points and points’ difference respectively after the pool stages.

Durbell finished their group matches with 12 points while Swallows ended on 11. Both Impala and Rhinos finished on 15 points apiece, but Impala enjoyed the better points’ difference.

SuperSport have confirmed that the Final will be televised live on Sunday 14 April at 14h30. The venue and broadcast channel will be confirmed after this weekend’s semi-finals.
