St Benedict’s College Rugby Preview 2015
St Benedict’s College rugby season takes off on the 9th of March 2015 with boys from u14 to 1st team partaking in trials for the various age groups and teams. We have A to D teams in our junior age groups (u14-16) and 1st to 6th teams in the senior age groups. Our first squad have been training on Sundays working on their skills and doing gym sessions to prepare for the season ahead. We will be holding skills and training camps from the 20th to 22nd March 2015.
This season promises to be an exciting season with last years u16s, who played with great speed and beat teams by using their pace outwide, combining with some of the seniors to form part of the core 1st team squad. The squad will have a strong pack of forwards with some skilful and speedy backline players boasting two 100m SA champions Masolwa Mafuma and Shingirai Hlanguyo who are superb finishers and require minimal space to beat defenders. We will also have 7 players who have represented the various u16 to u18 Golden Lions representative teams. This season is a season we are thoroughly looking forward to where we will also be participating at the St Johns Easter Rugby Festival playing against teams like Monument, St Charles and Hilton College, which have the potential to be tough encounters. We are also looking forward to playing Jeppe and hosting Pretoria Boys High at home which will be a game not to be missed.
