STEPHEN MOORE EXTENDS TIME WITH AUSTRALIAN RUGBY THROUGH TO 2016

Qantas Wallabies and ACT Brumbies hooker Stephen Moore has committed his future to Australian Rugby after signing a one-year contract extension that will take him through until 2016.
The 31-year-old hooker became the 81st player to captain the Wallabies, leading Australia in the opening Castrol EDGE France Tour clash in Brisbane earlier this year. Moore missed the remainder of the 2014 season with a torn ACL in his left knee, but is expected to return to full health to captain the Brumbies in 2015. The talented front rower is currently the most capped hooker in Australian Rugby’s history and is part of an elite group of Wallabies that have recorded over 50 Test wins. His international achievements include two IRB Rugby World Cups, a British & Irish Lions Series and a Tri-Nations victory 2011. Moore also has over a century in caps for the Brumbies and was an important contributor during their run to the Super Rugby final in 2013. He has been a key player at a provincial and national level for a long time and will be determined to add to his 92 Test caps as the Wallabies build towards next year’s Rugby World Cup. “For me to have another year in Australian Rugby is exciting and invigorating. There were options for me to continue my playing career overseas but with a young family I thought the best option was to stay in Canberra and with the Brumbies,” Moore said. “I’m grateful to the ARU and Brumbies for the opportunity for me to continue my career in Australia. I’m looking forward to the next two seasons.” Moore’s Wallaby debut came in 2005 against Samoa in Sydney and since then, he has remained one of the most consistent performers in Australian Rugby.
