Steval Pumas team to take on the EP Kings
Match: Steval Pumas vs EP Kings
Venue: Mbombela Stadium
Date: 24 June 2016
Kick-off: 17:00
There is a rich history of hard core, action packed rugby between the Steval Pumas and EP Kings, and Friday afternoon at 17:00 is going to be no different. Head coach of the Pumas, MJ Mentz has announced his team earlier today and several forced changes had to be made.
Hoffmann Maritz, the experienced midfielder injured his hamstring during training this week, therefore Wilmaure Louw will replace him in the starting line-up. For Louw this opportunity brings on his 50th cap in a Pumas jersey.
After months of hard work, the former White River Rugby Club player with a junior Pumas contract, Jacques Kotzé earned his staring 15 position by replacing Khwezi Mona at prop, who struggled with a knee injury during training. The experienced Deon Helberg is back in the playing squad as well as the tall prop, Sabelo Nhlapo. Nhlapo tore his bicep earlier the season would be excited to take to the field again.
“We always look forward to our match against the Kings. There is just that extra little spark of rivalry and competitiveness between the teams when they take to the field. We are sad to loose Hoffmann for this encounter, but in the same breath we celebrate Wilmaure’s 50th cap and believe his experience will be valuable to the team. After this game we have another bye which will surely help with the injured player’s recovery for the Kimberley encounter,” Mentz briefly commented.
