Strong Chiefs side to tackle the Toyota Cheetahs in Bloem
The Chiefs, who collected their fifth win in a row after beating the Western Force last Friday have announced their team to play the Cheetahs on Saturday 14 April, 17:05 CAT.
For eight of the Chiefs squad this is their first trip to South Africa. The match at Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein will see some changes in the Chiefs side. Alex Bradley will make his Chiefs debut at No 8, while Andrew Horrell starts at fullback and Robbie Robinson moves into the reserves. Hika Elliot will start at hooker and Asaeli Tikoirotuma comes onto the bench.
Chief’s assistant coach Wayne Smith said “The Cheetahs play the quickest brand of football so it is going to have its challenges. They play a rucking, running style of game and can be lethal from anywhere on the park so we are going to have to be combative with good set piece and a good 80 minute performance.”
After the Cheetahs match the Chiefs will play The Sharks before returning home to play the Hurricanes on 28 April at Waikato Stadium.
The Chiefs team is as follows:
1. Arizona Taumalolo, 2. Hika Elliot, 3. Ben Tameifuna, 4. Craig Clarke (c), 5. Brodie Retallick , 6. Liam Messam, 7. Tanerau Latimer, 8. Alex Bradley, 9. Tawera Kerr-Barlow, 10. Aaron Cruden, 11. Tim Nanai-Williams, 12. Sonny Bill Williams, 13. Richard Kahui, 14. Lelia Masaga, 15. Andrew Horrell.
Reserves:
16. Mahonri Schwalger, 17. Josh Hohneck, 18. Michael Fitzgerald, 19. Sam Cane, 20. Augustine Pulu, 21. Asaeli Tikoirotuma, 22. Robbie Robinson.
