Rugby fans will be able to watch the world’s best Rugby Sevens players in action from just R30 after the South African Rugby Union announced details of ticket sales for the annual Cell C Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens tournament, on 13-14 December in Port Elizabeth.
Tickets for the third round of the HSBC Sevens World Series event will go on sale on 26 September and will be available at all Computicket, Shoprite and Checkers outlets in South Africa as well as online through computicket.com.
The iconic Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium will fittingly host the last and most exciting rugby event of the year, with the international tournament following the Emirates Dubai Sevens. The Gold Coast Sevens in Australia will again kick off the new season on 11-12 October.
Last season the Springbok Sevens finished second on the World Series log behind New Zealand, before they captured gold at the Commonwealth Games.
SARU are expecting a huge surge for tickets due to the affordable pricing, and supporters are therefore urged to move quickly to purchase their ticket.
The Blitzboks are the defending champions at the event after winning the title last December in dramatic fashion against traditional rivals New Zealand. From as little as R30 a ticket supporters will be able to witness the Springbok Sevens live in action against 15 other international teams.
“The Cell C Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens tournament is regarded as one of the stand-out tournaments on the World Series calendar and we are again looking forward to welcoming and hosting the 15 visiting teams in the Friendly City,” said SARU CEO, Jurie Roux. “Our marketing team and various stakeholders have joined forces to compile a top-class entertainment programme for what promises to be an unforgettable weekend of rugby action.
“As always, there will be many opportunities to meet the Springbok Sevens players as well as the rest of the participating teams during signing sessions, coaching clinics and various other promotional activities.” Travel packages are available from sarugbytravel.com.
