Tickets for Springboks’ Soccer City return go on sale for R250
Tickets costing just R250 for the Springboks’ final match of The Castle Rugby Championship, against New Zealand at Soccer City on October 6, go on sale in Soweto outlets at 08h00 tomorrow (Tuesday, September 11).
The South African Rugby Union (SARU) announced today that 5 440 tickets at R250 would be available through counter sales at Computicket outlets at the Southgate, Jubulani and Maponya malls in Soweto. These tickets are not available online or by telephone booking.
Springbok supporters who bank with Springbok team sponsor Absa will receive an additional 10% discount on their purchase if they use their Absa debit, cheque or credit card when buying tickets.
Buyers will be limited to six per person when making their purchases.
“This model was successfully trialled when we last appeared at Soccer City in 2010,” said Andy Marinos, GM Commercial Marketing at SARU.
“These special R250 tickets are available to anyone; the only qualification is that they can only be bought at these three venues in Soweto. These are the most affordable tickets to see the Springboks play the All Blacks you will find anywhere. Anyone who was lucky enough to be at the first match at Soccer City will tell you what a special occasion it was.
“We’re expecting high demand once again and for this phase of sales to be completed quickly.”
Marinos said that SARU had contracted extra security staff to manage the queues of people expected.
The match will be the Springboks’ second appearance at Soccer City. In 2010 a crowd of 94,713 – a record for an audited attendance at a rugby match in South Africa – saw South Africa play New Zealand in former captain, John Smit’s, 100th Test.
Marinos added that fewer than 10 000 tickets from the first phase of public sales were still available priced at R450 and R600. Absa card holders also qualify for discounts on these tickets.
They can also be purchased at all Computicket outlets at Shoprite, Checkers and House & Home stores, or by telephone (0861-915-8000) and online at www.computicket.com.
To book the hospitality packages, supporters and corporates can contact SAIL on 081 486 3823 or bookings@sail.co.za, or visit www.sail.co.za to book online.
Tickets are not on sale through SARU’s offices or directly from Soccer City.
