The teams for this Sunday’s Cystic Fibrosis 20/20 cricket match have been named.  A team of Crusaders players will take on Todd Blackadder and his team of tradesmen, to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Association of New Zealand (CFNZ).

CFNZ CEO Belinda Burnett said it is wonderful that the Crusaders are once again helping out the charity to raise much needed funds:  “Cystic fibrosis affects approximately 500 New Zealanders and is the most common life-threatening genetic disorder affecting Kiwis.  Money raised will help families dealing with the effects of the disorder and helping welfare needs such as ensuring they are as comfortable as possible during their lengthy hospital stays.”

Crusaders XI Captain Willi Heinz said the event is one that the players look forward to each year: “There are quite a few of us in the team who have played a bit of cricket, so it’s fun to replace the rugby ball with a cricket bat for a day.  We’re a competitive bunch though so we take it pretty seriously, especially when you’re at the crease facing the head coach!”

The event runs from 11am on Sunday 7 December at Christchurch Boys’ High School.  The event is free to attend but there will be opportunities to donate to the Cystic Fibrosis Association during the match and there will be a half time auction of signed sporting goods and other great donated items.
