Top U17 Sevens players to showcase their skills
The top junior Sevens rugby players in the country will showcase their skills on Friday and Saturday in the SARU Under-17 Interprovincial Sevens in an exciting display of rugby at Hoƫrskool Paarl Gimnasium.
The tournament features 16 teams namely the Blue Bulls, Boland, Border, Eastern Province, Falcons, Free State, Golden Lions, Griffons, Griquas, KwaZulu-Natal, Leopards, Limpopo Blue Bulls, Namibia, Pumas, SWD and Western Province.
Each team will play three pool matches on Friday, which will be followed by seeding matches on Saturday, with the tournament concluding later in the day with the Shield, Bowl, Plate and Cup Finals.
Hosts, Western Province, will enter the tournament as the defending champions, and with the home crowd on their side, they will look to use this advantage to the fullest as they attempt to secure back-to-back titles.
The Limpopo Blue Bulls will meet Griquas in the opening match on Friday at 11h40, which will be followed by a clash between Boland and Namibia, while the final match of the day will between Western Province and the Pumas will kick-off at 18h40.
Fans attending the tournament will have luxury of meeting the Springbok Sevens players as well as Springbok Sevens coach Neil Powell and SA Sevens Academy Manager Marius Schoeman on Friday.
Tickets can be purchased at the school on match-days and will cost R20 for adults and R10 for children.
