In twenty days tomorrow the Crusaders will host the opening game of the 2015 Super Rugby season, and mark the official start of their twentieth Crusade.

Crusaders fans have already been securing their seats at AMI Stadium, with 4,000 season tickets sold already. Crusaders CEO Hamish Riach said that is a great start to what promises to be a special season.

“We’ve already exceeded our 2014 season ticket sales of 3,200, so it is awesome to see that Crusaders supporters are really keen to share in this twentieth Crusade. Season tickets are still on sale so we would love to see our total membership get up to around 4,500,” Mr Riach said.

One of the new products that the Crusaders have launched this season is a form of season membership for aspiring Crusaders aged 16 years and younger. The ‘Kids 2 Crusaders’ membership includes tickets for one adult and one child to all Crusaders and Canterbury round robin home games at AMI Stadium,a Kids 2 Crusaders branded rugby ball, and a specialised skills session with the Crusaders during the season.

“Some of our most loyal and passionate fans are the youngest ones, so we were really keen to offer something this year that gave them the opportunity to be a part of this team. Our Kids 2 Crusaders members will get the chance to meet some of their heroes up close and learn some skills off them, as well as watch them play at all of our home games. This has been a really popular product already so we can’t wait to get to know our next generation of Crusaders,” Mr Riach said.

The Crusaders have also introduced a 3 Game Super Pass into the market this season, which includes tickets for the first home games of the season against the Rebels on 13 February, the Highlanders on 11 April and the Chiefs on 17 April, at a special price of $110 for adults and $56 for children.

‘Crusader For Life’ is a new online membership option, for those fans who can’t be at the games or who want some additional insight into the team. For a one-off cost of $10, Crusader For Life members will receive exclusive video content, merchandise offers, competitions and giveaways.

“Crusader For Life launched a couple of weeks ago and has over 1,000 members already. It is particularly popular among our overseas fan base, who clearly cannot come to the games but still want to feel connected to their team. It’s a really affordable option for those fans who want to get as much information as possible about the team and a look behind the scenes of the Crusaders,” Mr Riach said.

Crusaders Head Coach Todd Blackadder said the team is itching to get the twentieth Crusade underway and determined to make the 2015 season a special one.

“With these new season ticket offers, Crusaders supporters have more options then ever before to choose from, and the team benefits as well from a highly-engaged, strong support base. We are excited about the season ahead and the fantastic atmosphere that we know our fans will help to create at all of our games.

“We feel honoured to be hosting the opening game of the Super Rugby season when we take on the Rebels at AMI Stadium on 13 February. With the Cricket World Cup opening match here in Christchurch the following day, that weekend is going be to an awesome spectacle of sport for Cantabrians and we can’t wait to be a part of it,” Blackadder said.

Tickets for the Crusaders vs Rebels go on public sale at 9am this Monday 2 February via Ticket Direct – ticketdirect.co.nz or phone 0800 224 224 – or at one of the ticketing outlets at The Palms, Champions of the World South City, or The Warehouse (Barrington, Hornby, Northwood, Riccarton, South City, Timaru, Rangiora and Greymouth branches only).
