Junior Springbok captain Ernst van Rhyn will lead DHL Western Province U21 in their opening game against Vodacom Blue Bulls U21 at City Park on Saturday.

The powerful lock heads up a talented side that will look to get their campaign off to a positive start in their clash with the Pretoria outfit, which kicks off at 12h00 on Saturday.

Van Rhyn will be partnered in the second row by Ruben de Villiers, who made his senior Currie Cup debut for DHL Western Province last week against the Xerox Golden Lions at DHL Newlands.

In the front row hooker Percy Mngadi is flanked by props Carlu Sadie and Ruben Terblanche, while the loose trio sees flanks Zain Davids and Nyasha Tarusenga link up with World Rugby U20 Championship Player of the Tournament Juarno Augustus who is at No.8.

In the backline scrumhalf Herschel Jantjies partners playmaker Joshua Vermeulen, with David Brits and Michaine Fick in midfield.

Tristan Leyds will start at fullback alongside wings Duncan Saal and Edwill van der Merwe.

“There has been a lot of hard work put into preparing for this campaign, so we are all very excited about what lies ahead.
