After only four rounds of the 2011 Absa Currie Cup, the Vodacom Blue Bulls are leading the race in SuperSport’s Audience Ratings, having surpassed the half a million mark (566 832) in their opening encounter against The Sharks in mid July. Added to this, the boys in blue also take second, third and fourth position on the viewership log.

The next highest figure recorded was 484506 against DHL Western Province at DHL Newlands Stadium on July 30th. Claiming third place, was again the boys from Pretoria as they were the preferred choice among 475 864 viewers who tuned in to watch Pine Pienaar’s charges in action against the Golden Lions at Loftus Versfeld on August 6th.

The Vodacom Blue Bulls lowest audience ratings after four weeks was 404 010 (Vodacom Blue Bulls vs Toyota Free State Cheetahs on 23rd July 2011), which was still higher than the best figures for DHL Western Province, GWK Griquas, MTN Golden Lions, Platinum Leopards and Ford Pumas.

The Vodacom Blue Bulls are delighted with the boost in the 2011 viewership ratings particularly as they have now  overtaken The Sharks after placing second by 5398 viewers last season.

According to Repucom, the average audience during live coverage of Vodacom Blue Bulls games is 23.7% higher when compared to the average audience across all Absa Currie Cup games, a stat which Blue Bulls Company CEO Barend van Graan is delighted with,

“These figures serve as confirmation of our teams popularity. Last month we announced several new appointments at the Blue Bulls Company in line with our strategy to transform our brand into an even more professional and formidable unit. These figures lead me to believe that we are on the right path towards achieving our objectives.”
