Vodacom Bulls dominate weekend stats
The Vodacom Bulls were in top form this weekend which was reflected on the Vodacom Rugby Stats App.
The Pretoria side turned in possibly their best performance of the 2014 Vodacom SupeRugby season when they convincingly dismantled the Brumbies 44-23 at Loftus Versfeld.
The Bulls players subsequently featured at the top in some of the categories on the Vodacom Rugby Stats App.
Bulls flyhalf Jacques-Louis Potgieter made valuable contributions with the boot which saw him dominate the Points category.
Potgieter contributed 22 points to his side’s victory with six penalty and two conversions and was followed by Cell C Sharks pivot Francois Steyn, who also played a leading role in his team’s victory over the Blues with the 16 points he put on the board.
Behind them were the Hurricanes’ Beauden Barrett (15 points), the Lions’ Marnitz Boshoff and Jason Woodward of the Rebels, equal with 14 points.
It also proved to be a phenomenal weekend for Bulls loose forward Jono Ross, who topped the Tries category after the brace he scored against the Brumbies.
It seemed a round of twos as Ross shared the top spot with the Rebels’ Luke Burgess and Matt Hodgson of the Force.
Ross also proved useful at the breakdowns where he won three turnovers along with Conrad Smith (Hurricanes), Ettienne Oosthuizen (Sharks) and Michael Hooper (Waratahs).
Lions flanker Jaco Kriel remained on top with the five turnovers he won over the weekend.
DHL Stormers lock Michael Rhodes continues to be a lineout exponent for his side as he again featured among the top players in this category.
Rhodes shared second place in the Linetouts won on own throw category with Dave Dennis of the Waratahs with the seven balls they took over the weekend with the Hurricanes’ Victor Vito on top with 13.
The Sharks’ Stephan Lewies is third with his six takes, while Teboho Mohoje of the Toyota Cheetahs shared fourth place with the Brumbies’ Ben Mowen with five.
