Wales U20 vs France U20:Another Eirias sell-out
The ‘sold out’ signs are already up at EIRIAS, Colwyn Bay, ahead of Wales Under 20’s final Six Nations match against France on Friday night (7.35pm).
Over 5, 500 tickets have been snapped up for the third consecutive Wales Under 20 home game at the North Wales venue, taking the total attendance for the three games to over 16,500, a record for a Wales Under 20 Six Nations campaign.
The enthusiastic crowd has helped Danny Wilson’s boys to two home victories to date, with a 28-15 win over Scotland and last weekend’s 30-23 victory over Italy and Wilson is hoping for more of the same on Friday.
“The boys have been hugely motivated by the crowd at EIRIAS which I’d say has certainly had a knock-on effect on our home performances and results,” he said.
“We are certainly hoping for more of the same on Friday, and this last game of the Under 20 Six Nations Championship will be our final chance to look at the players in this tournament environment before selecting our Junior World Championship squad.
“However, France will be a more difficult task, they are a very good side and the only team to beat England so far in the tournament. They’ve lost only one game, narrowly to Ireland, and have a very powerful pack and midfield in particular. We came away with a win last week but our defence in particular will need to be better against France.”
WRU Head of Rugby Joe Lydon said: “We are very grateful for the incredible support shown by the people of North Wales for the Under 20 side throughout this campaign and the noise and atmosphere generated at EIRIAS has no doubt given the young players a massive boost and helped them achieve two wins out of two so far at the Colwyn Bay venue.
“EIRIAS is a fantastic ground for international rugby and there will be more of the same when a Georgia International XV arrive to take on RGC 1404 on Saturday, 31 March (7.30pm).”
Mally Tidswell, EIRIAS general manager added: “Having the first three Wales under 20 international matches at EIRIAS as sell outs is absolutely fantastic news. The atmosphere at EIRIAS for the games has been brilliant so a huge thanks to the public in North Wales for showing their support to the Wales under 20 squad and the EIRIAS Stadium.”
For those not lucky enough to get tickets for the game, the match will be shown live on S4C.
