WESTERN FORCE LAUNCHES 2016 PLAYING STRIP
The Western Force has unveiled its playing strip and team kit for the 2016 Asteron Life Super Rugby competition.
The jersey, an evolution of the club’s 10th season jersey, features a number of high performance features, making it the toughest, lightest and most technically sophisticated and advanced jersey in the club’s history.
Representative Western Force players were again involved in the design process, with the reinforced iconic black swan returning to the front of the jersey, while the gold collar trim – linking back to the traditional state colours of Western Australia, where rugby has been played in the state for more than 120 years – has been maintained.
Western Force captain, Matt Hodgson, who was involved in the design process, said it’s fantastic to have a jersey that addresses the team’s performance and representational needs so comprehensively.
“It’s an honour to pull on a Force jersey at any occasion, but this jersey is particularly exciting,” he said.
“Most importantly, it’s a strong statement about our club and the people we want to represent. The support we get from our Sea of Blue is second-to-none, and ensuring that the jersey maintains the strong tie to them as well as linking back to our home in Western Australia is really important to us.
“As performance wear it’s very much at the cutting edge. In recent years the jersey has evolved from a top that simply determined which team you were playing for, to a garment that can make a significant contribution to the performance of an athlete. As a player, to know that your jersey is at the forefront of this technology is really exciting.
“The new range of kit is really ‘fast’ in how it looks but also really functional. The feedback from the boys has been very positive – particularly around the new basketball singlet – and I hope that our supporters really like it all as well.”
The 2016 jersey is tougher and lighter than ever, thanks to BLK’s market-leading Exotek fabric and reinforced stitching, while also providing increased mobility and manoeuvrability for maximum performance.
The tailored jerseys also include BLK’s Exodry side panelling which is designed to draw sweat and moisture away from the player’s body, while lycra integrated into the neck, underarms and sleeves provide additional stretch and comfort.
The unveiling of the new jersey completes the 2016 team kit range that features new women’s and children’s items, as well as casual wear, including a Western Force basketball singlet.
2016 replica jerseys and team kit are now available for purchase through the Western Force Team Store from Tuesday, 8 December with members able to use their Team Store voucher in their 2016 membership pack.
