WP vs Lions Preview

WP and the Lions will contest the Currie Cup final at Newlands on Saturday. The fans can expect a real battle from undoubtably the top two sides in this years Competition.
The Lions are playing a very balanced game and could be considered favourites by many after they put 50 pass their opponents in their last two consecutive games against Cheetahs & Sharks (semi-finals).
WP do however have home field advantage with a very vocal crowd who will rally behind their table topping team.
The Lions scrummed well against the Sharks with van der Merwe getting the upper hand against Stevens. A big game will be required by Cilliers (or Harris) at tight head for WP to counter this.
The loose forward battle will be one to watch and could be what gives the winning team the edge, allowing a solid platform for either of the exciting backlines to attack. Wp will be hoping that Nizaam Carr recovers in time. The number 8 went off with a hip injury against the Bulls last week.
WP will also not want to lose another final on the trot.
It’s going to be a close one but my money is on WP by a narrow margin.
The final kicks off at 17h00 CAT
