Leopards 24 (10), DHL Western Province 40 (21)
DHL Western Province flanker Christo van der Merwe scored a hat-trick against the Leopards in Potchefstroom and got himself sin-binned as the Cape side won 40-24. It was a high scoring affair, with no less than nine tries scored.
The visitors took an early hold on the match, despite being a man down with Van der Merwe in the bin, and never looked like losing this. They held all the aces up front where their pack dominated.

It was a humdinger in the Free State Stadium between the two sides. The Blue Bulls started off strongly and held a 19-14 lead at the break, but two quick tries by Henry Immelman and Jasper Wiese in the beginning of the second half saw the Free State take the lead and dictate matters.
The Blue Bulls refused to lie down however and threw everything they had at the Cheetahs team. A converted try two minutes from time drew the scores level, perhaps the best result for two teams who did not deserve to lose.

Free State 36 (14). Tries: Carel-Jan Coetzee, Henry Immelman, Jasper Wiese, Nardus Erasmus, Vuyani Maqina. Conversions: Andre Swarts (3), Henry Immelman. Penalty: Swarts.

Things got ugly for the home side, who is struggling to find their feet in this competition. The rampant Johannesburg side scored 11 tries in this one-sided affair. They had a 33-0 lead at the break and then added another 40 points in the second half.
Credit to the Kings, who kept on playing and was rewarded with two tries in the second half.
