The popular SA Rugby Youth Weeks festival – one of the main attractions on the school’s rugby calendar annually – will kick off on Monday with the Learners with Special Education Needs (LSEN) Week and National Girls U18 Week in Durban and Welkom respectively.

These tournaments mark the first two of six SA Rugby Youth Week tournaments, which also includes the U13 and U18 Coca-Cola Craven Weeks, the U16 Coca-Cola Grant Khomo Week and the Coca-Cola Academy Week.

The LSEN Week, which runs from Monday to Thursday, will be hosted at Glenwood High School in Durban, while the National Girls U18 Week will play out at the HT Pelatona Projects Stadium in Welkom

Similarly to all the other Youth Weeks, the teams deemed to have played the best rugby in the first two rounds of each competition respectively will be drawn against one another in the final match of the tournament where they will battle it out for top honors.

Following on the success of the combined hosting of the U13 Coca-Cola Craven Week and U16 Coca-Cola Grant Khomo Week, and the U18 Coca-Cola Craven Week and Coca-Cola Academy Weeks respectively last year, the tournaments will again run concurrently at Grey College in Bloemfontein from 10 to 14 July, and St Stithians College in Johannesburg from 17 to 22 July.

In the main matches in Durban, Boland, who took top honors in the LSEN Week last season, will meet Eastern Province, while the Valke will meet SWD, Western Province takes on the Blue Bulls, and hosts the Sharks will go up against the Leopards.

Meanwhile, Border, who held off a strong challenge from arch-rivals Western Province in the final match of the National Girls U18 Week last season, will take on the Blue Bulls, while the Capetonians will meet KZN in the main games on an opening day.

In other matches Boland meet the Limpopo Blue Bulls, the Free State take on the Golden Lions and African neighbors, Zimbabwe – who will make their fourth consecutive appearance in the competition – will go up against Griquas.
